A brand new bridge that would be lit up at night could be set to be built in Ayr, after the developers behind the scheme lodged Plans for the project with South Ayrshire Council.
Allanvale Homes is hoping to build this bridge across the A77 at a spot that would enable it to connect Maybole Road in Ayr with a new housing scheme that it is building at a site in Corton. The company has now submitted the plans to the council with the aim of securing the necessary planning permission to start work on the bridge.
The designs submitted reveal that the completed structure would be lit up with a series of white lights after dark, and the deck would have a width of four metres. Local printing services can often help developers create the visual impressions of projects they are planning.
The estimated cost of building this structure is £2m and it would be designed for use by cyclists and pedestrians, to enable them to get across the motorway safely. It represents a condition of a wider development that is being planned for this part of Ayr, with building work on the latter not able to get underway until South Ayrshire Council gives the go-ahead to the bridge.
No word on when a decision will be made has yet been announced.
