There has been great news for cricket fans in Ayr with the announcement that the Scottish national side will be facing a New Zealand A team there later in the year.
Ayr is not used to hosting major cricket matches, but a trip to a local printing company will ensure the games will be properly promoted via Posters and match day programmes.
The New Zealand team will be playing three matches against Scotland this summer, and it is the first two that will be played at Ayr Cricket Club on 15th and 17th August. The third match will take place at the Grange in Edinburgh on 21st. All three fixtures will be 50-over one-day matches.
Interestingly, Scotland’s Cricket World Cup will begin with a match against New Zealand, so expect these matches to be hotly contested as many of the Kiwi players will be hoping to earn a promotion to their nation’s first XI.
Despite qualifying for the World Cup by winning seven matches on the trot, Scotland sometimes struggles to arrange high quality fixtures, and so Cricket Scotland’s chief executive, Roddy Smith, expressed gratitude to the New Zealanders.
Scotland will also be playing summer fixtures against the Netherlands, which recently beat England at the World T20 tournament. These matches will be played at Titwood in Glasgow on 30th June, and the 2nd and 4th July.Get a Free Quote for Posters
