The site that the developer has in mind is Glenparks Farm, which is situated just behind the hospital in Ayr. The owner of the land is Robert Wilson, and he is hoping to build a village that will consist of 250 houses, shops, a crèche, care home and a place for eating and drinking. Ferguson Planning are the architects involved in the project, and Wilson has stated that a number of builders have already expressed interest.
A period of consultation is the next step in the process, with this due to take place over the internet as a result of COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings. Speaking to the Daily Record, Tim Ferguson from Ferguson Planning said:
“We are delighted to lodge the Proposal of Application Notice for a major residential led masterplan on lands adjacent to Ayr Hospital and known locally as Glenparks.”
He added that the project would provide the affordable, quality housing the area needs.
There will be a webcast consultation late next month for local people and it is hoped that the application can be submitted to the council in October.
