Ayr clothing shop plans move forward

Plans for the opening of a new branch of a major clothing chain in Ayr have now moved forward, with the news that the local council has granted permission for its signage.

TK Maxx is one of the biggest chains of clothing stores in the UK and the company is keen to launch a new branch within the shopping centre Ayr Central. As part of those plans, it submitted an application to South Ayrshire Council for permission to erect a sign at the chosen site. This has now been approved, which is a clear indication that the store will get the green light.

The site that TK Maxx wants to use is one that was previously occupied by Debenhams. This unit is currently lying vacant, with TK Maxx likely to move into its ground floor.

What remains uncertain at the moment is whether this will be a second Ayr branch of the chain or a replacement for its existing store in River Street. The application contains only limited details.

When new stores are launched in Ayr, they have to be promoted. Banner printing by shops in the town can be an eye-catching way to do so.

The council gave the nod to the signage application on the grounds that it complies with existing rules and will not lead to negative impacts on those living in the local area.
