X Factor band to switch on Christmas lights
One of this year's X Factor boy bands is set to switch on the Christmas lights in Tunbridge Wells this year, following its recent exit from the popular TV Show.
District 3, one of the acts on ITV talent show The X Factor, is set to light up Tunbridge Wells this winter as it turns on the festive lights to mark the start of Christmas celebrations in the town. District 3 exited the show after its mentor, Louis Walsh, left the band’s fate in the hands of the other judges.
As well as featuring District 3, the festive lights switch-on ceremony looks set to be fun for all the family, with popular Heart FM DJ Toby Anstis hosting proceedings. There will even be a visit from Santa Claus himself as he sets up home in his winter wonderland grotto in the town centre.
Festive lights switch-on ceremonies are currently happening around the UK in the run up to December, and celebrities and stars of TV and radio shows are becoming in-demand to draw in the crowds. As well as famous faces being used to generate an increase in visitors to these events, traditional marketing techniques are also used, such as flyer and poster printing.
The Tunbridge Wells light switch-on ceremony is set to be held in the town centre on Saturday 17th November. Fun activities kick off in the town centre from 2:30pm, with District 3 appearing for the big switch on from 6pm. Visitors are advised to get there early to avoid the crowds.
