Toy appeal is a success in Tunbridge Wells
An appeal to collect toys to give as Christmas gifts to disadvantaged and underprivileged children in Tunbridge Wells has been hailed as a success again by the Mayor of the town.
The annual Tunbridge Wells Mayor's Christmas toy appeal has had another successful year of spreading festive cheer to local children. The appeal is run in partnership with St. George's Community Children's project and each year it aims to provide toys to children who might otherwise go without over Christmas.
The toy appeal programme is staffed by volunteers who give up their own time to ensure that these local children have a present to open on Christmas Day. The volunteers ensure toys are age-appropriate and properly gift-wrapped before distributing them to local children.
John Smith, the mayor of Tunbridge Wells, spoke about the success of the toy appeal, saying:
Printing companies in Tunbridge Wells often offer their services to raise the awareness of such events. This is usually achieved with the help of flyers and business card printing.
The Mayor's Christmas toy appeal runs every year in Tunbridge Wells in the weeks leading up to Christmas and this always gains significant support from the local community. In 2011, over 300 gifts were wrapped and given to bring joy to local underprivileged children.
