What's Happening in Tunbridge Wells, England…

Top comedy to arrive in Tunbridge Wells

A revered theatre in Tunbridge Wells will soon play host to a beloved character performed by a leading UK comedian.

Al Murray, better known as “The Pub Landlord”, will be taking over the stage of the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells in autumn for a single-night performance.

Murray will be bringing a brand-new show to the venue entitled “Guv Island” which promises to see his famous publican persona back behind the bar.

Clubs and theatres presenting stand-up comedy shows sometimes connect with high-quality print shops that can create cost-effective adverts to promote the acts they host.

Murray cut his teeth in comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and on BBC Radio with fellow comic Harry Hill. Success beckoned, however, after he created his Pub Landlord character, a “blowhard know-it-all” who knows little yet has an opinion on everything.

The hit persona featured on Al Murray’s Happy Hour, an ITV chat show, and Time Gentlemen Please, a Sky One sitcom. The Mail on Sunday described Murray’s Pub Landlord act as supremely polished, giving it a five-star review.

Al Murray’s Guv Island show will be live at the Assembly Hall Theatre on November 1. Tickets are priced at £33 per person and the show will start at 7.30 pm. The theatre can be found on Crescent Road in Tunbridge Wells.
