Primary school opens in Tunbridge Wells

Parents in Tunbridge Wells now have another option when it comes to choosing a school for their children, following the opening of a brand new primary school.

Skinners’ Kent Primary School, which is a merger of Skinners’ Kent Academy and the Skinners’ School, admitted its first intake of primary-age pupils on the 3rd of September.

It will operate with Oakley School as partners and is benefiting from the sponsorship of the Skinners’ School Foundation. Teachers from Oakley will be leading an integrated staff to supply inclusive provision aimed at children who have special needs – particularly those living with autism.

Speaking to Kent Online, Sian Carr, the school’s Executive Principal, stated that she was thrilled to see the first children arrive at the school, adding:

“Our high quality, bespoke facilities have allowed us to quickly settle pupils and embed the daily routines which will prepare us for our exciting move to new buildings in Knights Wood in 2016”.

The school will have the option of using a digital printing company in Tunbridge Wells to supply it with any educational materials it needs to be able to provide its services.

This purpose built facility is equipped with sports hall, games courts, a pitch suitable for use in all weathers, playgrounds, a separate play area in parkland and a main building.

It is situated close to the new housing development in Knights Wood.
