What's Happening in Tunbridge Wells, England…

Police help Kent residents to mark their property

Police in Tunbridge Wells are set to help residents to mark their property to ensure their goods can be traced should they ever fall victim to theft.

Members of the police service in Tunbridge Wells will be holding a road show style ‘mobile police station’ which will be set up in Rusthall on Lower Green Road on Saturday 26th January.

The mobile police station will be open to the public and officers are encouraging people to come down and visit to find out how they can protect themselves and their property from theft.

The police are advising local people to visit the mobile unit and to bring along any property that they may have received as Christmas presents so that these gifts can be marked up with the owner’s postcode and other vital information. This secure marking technique will then help the police to identify these goods if they are stolen as part of a break-in or street robbery.

The mobile police station will feature live advice from local police community support officers. These types of events often attract a number of visitors and are an ideal place to communicate messages about staying safe, whether this is verbally or with the help of leaflet and flyer printing.

Tunbridge Wells Police are also offering free kits containing security marking equipment to the first 20 visitors to the mobile police station on the day of the event.

More information can be found by contacting local police stations directly or by speaking to regional Police Community Support Officers.
