New cinema planned for Tunbridge Wells
Plans have been unveiled that could lead to the building of a brand new cinema within the Pantiles Shopping district of Tunbridge Wells.
An application for the project has been submitted to Tunbridge Wells Borough Council by the Lower Pantiles LLP, and should it get the go-ahead, it would see a Curzon cinema boasting three screens constructed there.
However, the facility would be just one part of a more ambitious project in that section of Tunbridge Wells, with the likes of bars and cafes also set to open there, as the council seeks to regenerate the entire Lower Pantiles district.
Speaking to reporters from the local press about the plans, one of the bosses of Curzon Cinemas, Mel Alcock, commented:
There are currently 18 Curzon cinemas at various locations around the UK, but the one being planned for Tunbridge Wells would be the biggest.
Curzon would be able to rely on the assistance of services such as catalogue printing in Tunbridge Wells, to supply it with catalogues and brochures promoting its schedule of films each month.
The chain is noted for providing varied programming, including the latest blockbuster movies from Hollywood, independent fare, and live shows.
It is hoped the cinema could open in 2016.
