Jazz season to return to Tunbridge Wells

This summer will see the return of a much-loved jazz festival in Tunbridge Wells, which will boost the local economy and provide entertainment for residents and visitors.

The Pantiles Jazz Season will return to the bandstand in the Pantiles area of the town after last year’s event was cancelled following claims of anti-social behaviour. This year the occasion will be professionally managed and organisers hope that the number of incidents will be kept to a minimum.

Targetflow, a professional events company, has been appointed to ensure that the event runs smoothly. A spokesperson said:

“We are putting in place a professional management structure to enhance and preserve an important local event in the hope that it can continue to support itself through ongoing sponsorship and contributions from the people of Tunbridge Wells who come to enjoy these excellent evenings of entertainment."

A former sponsor of the event, Ragged Trousers owner Richard Simm, spoke about the return of the Jazz Season, saying:

“It's great for the Pantiles' reputation as well as the evening's trade and to lose the event would be a blow to both.”

Simm went on to say that the Jazz Season was usually great for business but last year’s early closure meant his company lost money.

Events like this often have a positive knock-on effect on local businesses. Print companies in Tunbridge Wells, for example, could be called upon to produce programmes, flyers and posters.

More information on the Pantiles Jazz Season is set to be published in the run up to the event.
