What's Happening in Tunbridge Wells, England…

Five-year plan offers peek into Tunbridge Wells future

The future of the town and businesses, which could include butchers, bakers and print shops in Tunbridge Wells, is looking rosy thanks to a plans and a five year vision released on February 14.

The people of Tunbridge Wells have been given a glimpse by Kent County Council of what the future could hold, and this may include bringing more jobs to the region thanks to radical changes to the town centre and new development.

If all goes well, many Tunbridge Wells key sites will be transformed by the plans of the Council. The general public is now able to take a look at the proposals of the local council during consultation spanning six weeks.

David Jukes, the council leader, said to the Kent & Sussex Courier:

“If this document lays on a shelf gathering dust then sack me. If it does then I have not done what I came there to do. All the time I am leader I will do everything possible to make sure that this plan is carried out. I have not worked for six months on it with the expectation of doing nothing in practical terms.”

The plans would see redevelopment of some sites belonging to the council, including Mount Pleasant Avenue car park. Over the past two years, the local council has raised £4m in this way.
