Construction is now underway on a brand new, multimillion pound care home at Saltzgitter Drive in Swindon, which will lead to the creation of jobs for over 100 people in the area.
Abbey House is being built at a cost of £8m, with the Milestones Trust being responsible for the development. It is due to open its doors next summer.
This trust has provided support for those with learning disabilities, dementia and other mental health problems since it was launched thirty years ago, and it had noted that the ageing population in Swindon was creating a real need for this facility.
John Hoskinson, the trust’s CEO, told the Swindon Advertiser that the organisation was pleased that it would have the opportunity to meet this need and supply dementia sufferers in Swindon with the necessary residential care.
Councillor Andrew Bennett, Swindon’s new mayor, was among those who visited the site to mark the commencement of building work. The recruitment of staff for the facility is expected to begin later in the year.
Once it opens, the trust will be able to use places offering Stationery printing in Swindon to provide it with its official stationery.
The completed home will have rooms for 73 people and was designed to reach the standards set by Stirling Gold Dementia Care, such as positioning beds for residents to easily see their bathrooms and providing wardrobes with transparent panels.Get a Free Quote for Stationery
