Collins has inhabited Park South since the early 1960s. She has taken a memorable photograph of a fox which had got into her back garden. However, she has submitted other work too in order to maximise her chances of obtaining a prize from the VisitWiltshire organisation this year. Newsletter printing in Swindon may be used by any business or institution that wants to record events which have happened over a particular time period.
A garden centre visit gave Collins another compelling subject for her art, while Stanton Park has also been an inspiration. Collins has explained her general approach to the Swindon Advertiser:
“I have always been interested in birds and nature of all kinds, and I love walking for miles in the countryside. I never go out without my camera now, and I love photography.”
Entrants in the competition have been tasked with capturing the essence of Wiltshire life. The winner of the contest will receive a camera from a specialist retail outlet in Salisbury.
People who are stuck for inspiration can draw on the themes outlined by VisitWiltshire. Photographs of timeless places, wonders, pleasures and nature may be scored highly. Examples of the different categories have been provided for possible participants. For instance, the timeless wonders of Wiltshire include Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, White Horses and the Kennet and Avon Canal.
