A public park in Swindon is to be given a refurbishment, with the news that funding to the tune of hundreds of thousands of pounds has been provided to finance it.
Buckhurst Field is situated within the Walcot and Park North districts of Swindon. It is set to be given an upgrade at a cost of £600,000 that will see it landscaped. Other changes that will be made during the work include the installation of a path for cyclists, facilities for sporting use, a skate park and a play section for use by young children.
Management responsibility for it lies with South Swindon Parish Council. The organisation states it will take around a year and half to finish the work after it gets underway. It has added that it will collaborate with the Oakfield Development Board, the Football Foundation and Swindon Borough Council on the project.
Brochure printing by shops in the town may prove useful when the new-look park is ready, to show off all of the additional amenities that it will have to offer.
The disused football pitches are to be brought back into operation as part of the Plans and the park will become the home ground for Swindon Robins. Meanwhile the play section will be equipped with a hurricane swing and sensory play board.
A start date is still to be announced.
