The stand-up Shaparak Khorsandi, usually known as Shappi, is on tour with her ‘It Was The 90s’ show, and is due to play Swindon at the beginning of September.
This Iranian-born comic rose to prominence with success on the London comedy circuit at the start of the 2000s, selling out at Edinburgh in 2006. Her style is forthright and flirty, tackling the subject matter by applying a forensic wit and giving her own distinctive take.
Shappi has appeared on TV and radio programmes such as 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week and Just A Minute. She is also the popular author of the childhood memoir A Beginners Guide To Acting English.
In 2017, Shappi was elected President of the British Humanist Society and she currently holds an honorary doctorate awarded by Winchester University.
It Was The 90s deals with the decade when a twenty-something Shappi lived in a world where ladettes ruled the roost, but is a reflection piece on how those ‘90s kids are getting inspiration from today's youth in learning how to look after themselves.
Tickets cost £20, subject to a 14+ age restriction. Printing services can be a useful resource when planning a forthcoming theatrical or comedy event.
Shaparak Khorsandi's stand-up show has a starting time of 7:30 pm on Saturday, September 10 at Swindon Arts Centre.
