PPS is the property of the local borough council. It could be rewarded in the environmental category at the Local Government Chronicle Awards (LGCA) if it can beat off the competition. Newsletter printing in Swindon may then be used to showcase the achievement. Nick Golding, the editor of the Local Government Chronicle (LGC), said:
“To be shortlisted for an LGC Award shows that a council’s work in this particular area is something that can inspire the rest of local government. We have had, just about, a record number of organisations entering this year’s awards, making the competition stiffer than ever.”
PPS has made an effort that has reduced the carbon footprint of about 16,500 homes. It seems that much less carbon dioxide is being produced on a yearly basis because of the push for renewable energy. This has cut the generation of carbon dioxide by almost 29,000 tonnes. The solar policy has reportedly had other positive environmental impacts such as boosting meadows and bees. The firm has also tackled sites where landfill has been left.
PPS will discover whether or not it has actually won during March 2016. A ceremony is scheduled to take place within Grosvenor House in the middle of the month. At this London event, the names of the winning performers in the different categories will be read out.
