Swindon-based firm showcases product at air show

Farnborough Air Show (FAS) has been used by Swindon’s Rendermedia to exhibit a simulator that uses virtual reality.

The manufacturer Airbus has given the work in question to Rendermedia. Although the organisation is located within the northern part of Swindon, it took the opportunity of the FAS to show what it has to offer. Rendermedia could now employ digital printing in Swindon to promote its creation.

Mark Miles, a director for Rendermedia, said:

“An event like Farnborough will have a lot of businesses vying to stand out and make an impression from film and 3D graphics, but what we are demonstrating is a stage beyond that – the rich graphics and interactivity leaving the user feeling they have actually been there.”

The user of the product is given the opportunity of immersing themselves in a unique environment. Miles has pointed out that people will have the chance to give instructions and make movements in the alternative world. He has maintained that the experience obtained is more durable than that of watching a film on an ordinary television screen.

Virtual reality headsets are utilised in the process. Participants are encouraged to view a monitor that has been modified. As a result of the technology, it is possible for people to perceive what it is like to direct the movement of a passenger jet.
