Entries open for Swindon Photographic Societys anniversary competition

The Swindon Photographic Society is holding a competition to mark its 120th anniversary.

The theme relates to ‘what Swindon means to you’ and the deadline for the submission of entries is 1st March.

Anyone is allowed to enter the competition, regardless of their experience level, although each entrant may only submit a single photograph for consideration. Entries must be the entrant’s own work and photographs can be taken using any kind of camera, mobile phone or other similar device. For this kind of competition, promotional methods such as poster printing are frequently used to maximise interest and awareness.

The competition is being sponsored by Olympus, one of the leading manufacturers of digital and optical technology. The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a limited edition Gillis camera worth £299.

Photographs which achieve first, second and third places in the competition will also be printed and framed.

A panel of judges, including representatives from the Swindon Advertiser, the Link Magazine and John Lewis, will choose the best photographs. When a shortlist has been created, the president of the Royal Photographic Society, Robert Albright FRPS, will pick the winning entry on 11 April 2019.

Further information about the competition, including the terms and conditions, may be found at the society’s website, where entries can also be submitted.
