The Shell petrol station that is situated in Marlborough Road, Swindon is owned by Motor Fuel Group. This company applied to the council for permission to construct a mini charging station for electric vehicles that will be covered by a canopy.
The actual chargers will be placed to the rear, away from the road, with spaces for parking in front.
Drivers of electric vehicles who wish to get access to this charging station will be able to do so in the same way as drivers using the main petrol station facilities. According to the Swindon Advertiser, the application states that:
“Motor Fuel Group wants to make it as easy to charge your vehicle as re-fuelling with petrol or diesel. The aspiration of Motor Fuel Group is to provide access to convenient and affordable charging, regardless of where the driver lives.”
