What's Happening in Reading, England…

Reading to screen festive film

An event combining a Christmas movie with a live concert is coming to Reading this winter.

Reading residents looking for Christmas magic won’t have far to travel, as a production called “The Snowman - LIVE!” is coming to the city in December, which includes a screening of the beloved animated film and a live musical performance of its soundtrack.

Organisers of events like concerts and cinema showings often look to professional poster printing services for attractive one sheets for the titles they present to help advertise to the public.

Those attending the upcoming show will see the iconic animated tale play out on screen while accomplished orchestra, the English Pro Musica, perform the full soundtrack. The Snowman film is described as a symphonic poem and is based on the 1978 children’s book by beloved author, Raymond Briggs.

The animation was originally directed for Channel 4 by Dianne Jackson for Boxing Day programming in 1982, and features an original score by Howard Blake. A BAFTA award-winning film, it features no dialogue, save for its central song performed by choirboy Peter Auty of St Paul’s Cathedral.

The Snowman - LIVE! will now be screened in The Great Hall of Reading University on Saturday, December 20. The performance starts at 4 pm and ends at 5 pm, and the university is located on London Road in Reading.
