Reading to celebrate local waterway

A festival in Reading will pay tribute to one of the region’s most famous watercourses this summer.

Nature lovers from the area can join an annual celebration taking place in town. Entitled “Reading Water Fest 2026”, the event is now in its 37th year and was designed to honour the Kennet and Avon Canal and its scenic and historic hallmarks.

Organisers of annual events sometimes connect with professional printing services that can create a range of promotional materials to gain public attention like Posters, Signs, Flyers and Postcards.

New for this year, the event will respond directly to Reading Borough Council’s pledge to achieve carbon neutral status by 2030, employing climate change and environmental themes via creative workshops and programming on the day.

Visitors joining the festivities can take in the natural sounds and sights as they stroll the towpath and several key locations along the canal. En route, they will encounter artistically painted boats and their owners who are ready to talk about their life on board.

Water Fest will now run on Saturday, June 27 at various locations around Reading. These will include Riverside Walk, Reading Abbey Ruins, Forbury Gardens and Chestnut Walk. The event begins at 11 am and finishes as 5 pm.

Ahead of the event, organisers are welcoming Reading residents who would like to run a stall or workshop to reach out.
