Book club to meet at Reading bar

A cocktail bar in Reading will host a winter edition of a local book club.

Readers in Reading can attend and event called the Creative Book Club. This winter the group will be discussing a new title “Butter” by author Asako Yuzuki. A cult novel in Japan, the best-selling book features a journalist cracking the case of killer and gourmet cook and is based on a true story.

Publishing houses producing fiction and non-fiction titles alike typically work with respected printing services that can produce multiple editions for sale.

Regularly meeting every six weeks, The Creative Book Club is designed for creatives, artists and makers to connect with their peers. Run by Jelly, the Reading-based arts charity, each meet-up focuses on a new book and a chance to discuss it over cocktails. Mixed drinks served in sessions are specially created for the occasion and inspired by the latest title chosen.

The Creative Book Club will take place at the Milk Bar on Tuesday, December 9. The cocktail bar is located at 8 Merchants Place in Reading the event starts at 7 pm and finishes at 8.30 pm.

Tickets for club meetings are limited so avid readers wishing to participate are encouraged to purchase early. While not required for attendance, donations to Jelly are welcome from those joining the event.
