At the event, which was held in the London Hilton on Park Lane, Ms Hedley beat two competitors in the final to gain the title. Her employer may choose to broadcast her success further by using full colour printing in Reading. Ms Hedley has worked for the same organisation since 2011, commenting:
“I want to say thank you very much to Reading Buses. I do genuinely love my job.”
The driver also said how much she appreciates being part of a team where she feels valued. She came from a background in retail, but has already been involved in mentoring new drivers. Ms Hedley’s own driving performance has received praise too.
Jacqui Gavaghan, performance director at Reading Buses, spoke with enthusiasm about the driver’s achievements. In particular, she mentioned how Ms Hedley has the capacity to motivate others to do well.
