Comic convention heads for Reading

A leisure centre in Reading is presenting a convention for fans of comic books and movie memorabilia later this year.

Reading residents with a passion for comics, science fiction, tv and film can attend a special event arriving in the Berkshire town in May. The Loddon Valley Leisure Centre in Earley has announced it is hosting the Reading Comic Con on the second Sunday of the month and is encouraging fans and families looking for a fun day out to buy tickets.

The event expects to be well-attended by a wide range of specialists in merchandise, comics and collectables. Traders with stands at comic conventions often carry professional business cards featuring their logo and contact details to pass to interested buyers.

Highlights planned for the event include celebrity guests like Dr Who stars Colin Baker and Katy Manning and comic book artists like Nick Gribbion and Lee Townsend. There will also be props for photo opportunities sourced from film franchises like Harry Potter and Scream and costume roleplay competitions.

Reading Comic Con will now run at the Loddon Valley Leisure Centre on Sunday, May 11. The convention starts at 10 am and ends at 5 pm and the leisure centre is situated on Rushey Way in Lower Earley, Reading. Adult tickets for the event are £9 while children are charged just £5.
