Berkshire performs well in regional wealth ratings

Berkshire scored highly for prosperity in a recent report published by a think tank called the Legatum Institute.

The economy of Reading plays a significant role in the overarching performance of the Thames Valley. The relative success of Berkshire could fuel demand for luxury Business Cards from Reading.

The think tank has not focused on wealth statistics alone. It has also examined life satisfaction scores. As a result, it has been able to put together a Geography of Prosperity Index. Sian Hansen, a director at the Legatum Institute, has said:

“The 'Geography of Prosperity' index reveals that prosperity is about more than just wealth, it is about feeling that one's life is worthwhile.”

Some of the richer parts of London shone in the index created by the group. However, Berkshire scored better than affluent Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Places like Wolverhampton struggled to compete in the index.

Ginette Gower, who is a spokesperson for the chamber of commerce in the Thames Valley, was unsurprised by the positive rating given to the region. She has mentioned the number of skilled workers who live in Berkshire and commented on the amount of investment that is pouring into the area.

Ms. Gower has also stressed the high quality infrastructure which helps connect the various settlements. In addition, she has pointed out the number of American companies that opt to use the region for their European headquarters.
