Preston welcomes the Weavers

The Houghton Weavers, as part of a jaunty four-date tour, will play a gig in Preston at the beginning of December.

This comedy/folk group has been entertaining people now for more than four decades with a brand of humour, music and audience involvement. They first started out in the folk clubs of the North West, and quickly developed a concert following, as well as a fan club further afield.

The group's members have recorded some 25 albums and even had a No. 1 in Tasmania with "The Blackpool Belle". This also subsequently troubled the New Zealand charts at No. 3. They have played thousands of shows, and most notably headlined in their own BBC TV and radio series.

The Houghton Weavers deliver a sing-along musical family concert incorporating a wealth of stories. There will be a selection of familiar songs including "Matchstick Men", "Wild Rover" and the aforementioned "The Blackpool Belle". These are combined with some new material, as well as traditional festive numbers such as "White Christmas", "Mary’s Boy Child" and "Let It Snow".

Tickets cost £13 and there is no booking fee. Print shops can prove to be a useful resource when promoting any forthcoming stage show or concert.

The Houghton Weavers gig has a starting time of 7:30pm on Friday, December 3 at The Playhouse Theatre in Preston.
