The Americana band Sunbirds is on tour and due to give a performance in Preston at the beginning of November.
The Beautiful South’s founder member and singer/songwriter Dave Hemingway formed them, together with guitarist/songwriter Phil Barton. Having taken a break from live appearances towards the end of 2016, Dave has certainly kept himself busy.
The pair first discovered singer/violinist Laura Wilcockson, before hiring leading drummer Marc Parnell. They were later joined by Chris Offen on guitar and keyboards, before bassist Phil Chapman completed the line-up. November 2020 saw the release of the band's debut album 'Cool To Be Kind'.
Although an English outfit, their music relies heavily on traditional roots instrumentation from America, recently supplemented by '70s rock, pop and some folk elements. This is combined with an occasional guitar-laden melody, one that more closely resembles the Seattle sound of the early ‘90s.
The band released a brand-new single called 'Make Up Your Mind' in September and the new album, 'A Life Worth Living' is due out in October. 'Classic Pop Magazine' has described their work as "appealingly understated songwriting".
Tickets range in price from £15 to £18 at the door. Banner printing is widely used by those involved in the promotion of a future concert or musical event.
The Sunbirds show has a starting time of 7.30pm on Thursday 9th November, and takes place at The Continental, Preston.
