The Range will be located in the Queens Retail Park, on the spot where Homebase used to be, with the opening scheduled for late April.
Chris Dawson, an entrepreneur based in Plymouth, owns and operates this chain of stores. There are currently around 100 Range stores throughout the country, with many of them situated on sites that were previously occupied by Homebase.
Once it opens, the Preston shop will lead to full-time and part-time opportunities for roughly 100 people, including department and shop management roles, and administrative and warehouse jobs.
It is also likely to provide work for other local businesses, including those offering catalogue printing in Preston, to help showcase the goods on sale there.
Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Dawson said:
“We feel that The Range is a unique shopping experience that has something for everyone and we are confident that the people of Preston will enjoy what The Range has to offer.”
He went on to add that the company was growing rapidly and that he was confident that this Preston branch – alongside another store opening in Leyland – would be key to this growth.
It will be based at the vacant site on Olympian Way, following the closure of the Homebase store there last December.
