The festivities are an annual event in the city that provide local people with the opportunity to revel in the sights and sounds of Preston’s Caribbean community, through a combination of music and colourful banner printing provided by Print companies in Preston.
Having sprung into life in 1974 as a modest procession through the streets by immigrants, the Carnival has grown to be a popular feature of the summer in the city. Avenham Park has been its home for the last few years, but it will now make the move to Moor Park, with the council having agreed to waive the usual £325 fee for hiring it, on the condition that the organisers of the Carnival take responsibility for cleaning up the site afterwards.
A statement issued by Preston City Council stated that:
“The Caribbean Carnival as an event has held a place in the events calendar for Preston for the past 40 years. It is a celebration of cultural diversity and is well received by the community.”
This year’s Preston Carnival is scheduled for Sunday, June 29th, a month later than the usual date.Get a Free Quote for Plans Get a Free Quote for Print
