Residents of the Ryelands estate in Lancaster had been "terrorised" over a long period of time by a local gang of criminals. Recently, local police arrested and convicted members of the gang for their crimes.
Anthony and Jason Diprose were part of the gang whose members were jailed for a sum of 67 years. Local residents of the Ryelands Estate had, in the past, expressed concern about gang activity on the estate and had often spoken to Lancashire Police.
The concern expressed by residents was addressed when Lancashire Police chose to issue leaflets that explained what had happened. Leaflet and flyer printing in Preston, Lancaster and other areas throughout Lancashire is a fast and easy way to produce easy-to-digest communications that can be distributed on a large scale.
Superintendent Andy Webster spoke about the use of leaflets to reassure residents that everything possible was being done to restore safety to the Ryelands Estate, saying:
“Many felt threatened and intimidated by what was going on the estate. We hope that residents can see that we listened to their concerns and, now that these criminals are behind bars, life has improved on the estate."
He added that leaflets offer an alternative way of reaching out to the local residents, enabling Lancashire Police to inform people about the work it has carried out and the ways in which it will continue to do so.
