Calendars have been distributed to homes across Chorley advertising the changes to bin times over the last few weeks. Terry Brown is the councillor who looks after refuse collection and waste at the local council. Councillor Brown spoke about the festive bin collections, saying:
“Residents are often unsure when to put their bins out for collection over the Christmas period. We want to let people know in advance so they can be prepared and put their bin out on the correct day.
"Although we can provide some key information in the local media, it’s important people check their own Calendars. People should have received it by now as the refuse collectors have been attaching them to bins over the last two weeks.”
Local printing companies in Preston and Chorley often get involved with helping to communicate community information like this.
Refuse collection is an essential service that affects the lives of all residents in the area, and at Christmas time, the potential to generate more waste than usual is high. This, combined with reduced or changed bin collection services, can cause disruption, so it is important that these changes are communicated as clearly as possible.
Residents that would like to find out more about the changes to refuse and waste collections over the festive period can do so by checking the calendar that should have been attached to their bin, or by contacting the council directly.
