Oliver Evans and Tom Mountain grabbed the top spots – in the senior and junior sections respectively – at the finals that took place at Bury College.
The pair then went on to prove that this triumph was no fluke, as they won further honours for their bricklaying work at the regional finals of SkillBuild, following which Mountain spoke of his delight at both awards, saying:
“I’m really pleased to have done so well in both competitions as the standard was very high in both.
“It just shows that the hard graft along the way has been worth it and I can’t wait to compete in the nationals of both competitions and hopefully come back with a prize.”
The duo’s tutor, Kevin Gaskell, also expressed his pleasure at seeing two of his students win recognition for their talents, and pointed out that the course at Preston College has regularly produced award-winners – including national silver and gold medal winners.
That is the next aim for Mountain and Evans, as they prepare for the two national finals, both of which are in June. Thanks to the banner printing offered by Print companies in Preston, friends and family will be able to show their support.Get a Free Quote for Print
