The Games encouraged businesses from across the city to put together teams to compete against one another. The event followed on from the 2012 UK Corporate Games that were held in Preston last year.
Local councillor Tom Burns spoke about the event, saying:
“It is great to see the business community come together and support the first Preston city games. We couldn’t have asked for a better day with the sun shining. Everyone has had a fantastic day and I hope they and many others will join us next year when the event will be even bigger.”
Nearly 40 companies from the Preston area took part in the games, with hundreds of colleagues, friends and family members turning out to show their support. At these types of events, visitors often bring eye-catching Banners that have been produced by printing companies in Preston.
The area’s UCLan Sports Arena and the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre were two of the venues that were used on the day. Both of which hosted a variety of events, including table tennis, hockey and running.
Kate Burns spoke on behalf of sports development team at the local council, saying:
“The atmosphere was fantastic. Everyone had a beaming smile on their face. It ticked all the right Boxes for us and we have had some great feedback already.”
Plans for next year's event are already underway.
