“We wanted to wait until the peak had gone and we were able to keep our staff and customers safe before reopening.”
Frediani said that her existing staff and customers were excellent. She noted that there had been a big response to the appeal for more personnel. Frediani explained that the volume of applicants was such that the process was restricted for the reason of fairness.
In 2013, Umberto’s was affected by a serious fire. Since then, the chip shop on Watery Lane has secured trade with the help of meal deals at lunchtime.
