An event dedicated to a French artist who led the Fauvism movement is being held in Enfield within easy reach of Palmers Green.
Art enthusiasts in the surrounding suburbs of Enfield are being invited to attend this informative experience, which is focused on the “Father of Fauvism”. Presented by Art Society Enfield, the lecture is entitled “Henri Matisse - Cut Up, Cut Down and Cut Outs” and will be delivered by Professor Alan Silman.

Widely respected, Matisse ranks alongside his peer Picasso as an important artist of the 20th century. The upcoming talk will focus on his mental and physical health challenges. Even from an early age, the painter and sculptor experienced a health condition that would be diagnosed as neuroses today. Despite several psychiatric and lifestyle interventions, he produced a series of acclaimed post-impressionist artworks.
Silman is presently the Senior Research Fellow for Green Templeton College Oxford and an Oxford University Professor of Medicine. His career has also seen him serve as Medical Director for Arthritis Research UK.
