The ‘80s rock group, Then Jerico, is due to embark on a tour, and will play in Oxford at the beginning of December.
They were founded by Mark Shaw, who recruited Scott Taylor on guitar, Jasper Stainthorpe on bass and Steve Wren on drums. After performing in 1983 at New York's The Limelight Club, the band was contracted to London Records.
In 1987, they produced the LP 'First (The Sound Of Music)'. It went to number 35 on the UK's Album Chart. and delivered the hit songs 'Muscle Deep' and 'The Motive'.
'The Big Area' came out in 1989, achieving Platinum and attaining a number 4 position on the UK's Album chart. 'Big Area' was their greatest hit single.
The band have headlined, sold out shows and offered support on tours with the likes of Propaganda and Iggy Pop, while Belinda Carlisle sang on one of their tracks. Following their success, Mark Shaw opted to go solo.
2012 witnessed the completion of an original line-up 'Big Area' album UK reunion tour, and today, Shaw remains the only founding member.
