Students book 90s rock stars as part of college course

Students studying music at a college in Oxfordshire are putting on a concert as part of their course, featuring a rock group that once took to Glastonbury's legendary Pyramid Stage.

Adam Thack-Pugsley, Miles Cottier, Alex Warner and Callum Walton are pupils studying for a BTEC in Music Technology at Farringdon Community College. The foursome decided to host a gig as part of its final course project. Speaking about the Plans, Walton said:

“We didn’t want to pick a small band, and we wanted to think outside the box.”

With the help of tutor John West, the collective contacted 1990s rock group Dreadzone, who are best known for their slots on the John Peel radio show and for opening the hallowed Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury festival 19 years ago.

Dreadzone is managed by DMF, and Laura Farrow from the company spoke about the concert, saying:

“The organisation has been really good so far, so much so that we didn’t even realise at first that they were students.”

The pupils have promoted the concert using a mixture of social media and traditional printed marketing material, such as full colour printing of Posters.

Tutor John West commented on their efforts, saying:

“There have been ups and downs, they are still teenagers, but they have realised the amount of effort that goes into it and had a real working experience.”

Oxford residents can buy tickets for the upcoming gig for £15 each and the concert will be held at Shush nightclub on May 17.
