Over 3,000 residents turned out for this year’s event – the third one to be held annually – so that they could have a go at such crafts as leatherwork and masonry, as well as trying out cuisine from around the world.
Now, Helen Adams, a co-ordinator for the event, has stated that she hopes the museum directors will act to make it a more permanent part of the city’s arts scene.
Pitt Fest, which was designed to increase local interest in the hand crafts dating back to the pre-industrial era that are on display at the Pitt Rivers Museum, has funding in place until 2017.
However, beyond this point, there is uncertainty about whether it will continue. It Forms a single part of a wider five-year scheme at the museum entitled VERVE, which has been financed by various sources including the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Speaking to the Oxford Times, Adams said:
“We are hoping it will become an annual event. VERVE is all about making people feel a greater ownership of the museum.”
As with similar events taking place in the city, Pitt Fest can rely on banner printing in Oxford to provide it with eye-catching promotional Banners.
