Oxford to host energy conference

The Energy for a Net Zero Society Conference, organised by the British Institute of Energy Economics, is due to be held in Oxford in mid-September.

This research conference sets out to examine both the negative and positive drivers of energy change. It is focused on creating the foundations and introducing low-carbon policies aimed at kickstarting the transition to a net-zero carbon emissions society.

People from across the energy sector, academia, government, finance and research bodies will be brought together for the conference. It is an opportunity for delegates to participate in a complete programme with key speakers, paper seminars on the latest thinking audience discussions.

The agenda includes the impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic and how proposed Plans for economic recovery might accelerate change. The role of governments in delivering a green-led recovery will be explored, and the international perspective will also be considered.

During the conference, the way people work, live and travel will be considered, alongside issues such as online employment, cycling and infrastructure. Speakers include Dr Maureen Paul of OFGEM, Paul Spence of EDF Energy, Professor Jillian Anable of the University of Leeds and Spencer Dale of BP.

Tickets cost between £200 and £310, with pre-registration required. It is often encouraged to bring along Business Cards to events like this for the purpose of networking.

The Energy for a Net Zero Society Conference will take place between Monday, 13th September and Tuesday, 14th September at Worcester College, Oxford.
