Oxford start-ups win nationwide Tech Nation competition

Two Oxford-based tech start-ups have been nominated in 2019’s Tech Nation Rising Stars competition.

Start-ups participating in the competition must have at least one client on board and yearly revenue of £1.5m. The competition comprises a national hunt to locate promising tech start-ups with potential to upscale their enterprise and become future market leaders.

Along with eight others in the UK, two of the tech start-ups, Vitaccess and Serelay, are based in Oxford.

Located at the Oxford Centre for Innovation, Vitaccess is a platform providing real-time data on how diseases and their treatment affect patients’ daily lives via specially designed apps located on mobile devices.

Serelay, of Harwell Campus, allows smartphone users to take verifiable videos and photos. It also enables the platforms in receipt of this media to analyse their authenticity in terms of location, time and content.

Competitions like the Rising Stars are opportunities for start-ups to network, exchange Business Cards and build relationships at early stages in their development.

Esme Caulfield, of Tech Nation commented:

“We put together a package designed to provide tangible support to the winning businesses as they grow and make the transition from start-ups to scale-ups.”

The 10 winners picked will receive a support package to the value of £4,000. Other benefits of the prize include business to business introductions, mentoring, and support from sponsors.
