Oxford pub named the citys best

One of Oxford’s most popular pubs has claimed the title of Oxford City Pub of the Year, marking the fourth occasion in the last 10 years that it has been awarded this crown.

The Mason’s Arms is run by brothers Chris and Matthew Meeson, and has become a favourite haunt of real ale fans in Oxford – something that contributed to it receiving this recognition.

The title was awarded by the Oxford branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and judges from this organisation stated that the real ale selection, cleanliness, community spirit and overall ambience were the factors that led them to choose it.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Tony Goulding, CAMRA Oxford branch chairman, said:
“When you walk in you’ll have anyone there from 18 to 88. It is a pub for all ages, which is wonderful.

“It is good to see the family have kept it going, they have worked hard for this and there is a lot of competition in this city.”

Should the family wish to promote this award, there are printing services in Oxford that can help them to do so.

The Mason’s Arms was purchased by the Meeson family – brothers Chris, Matthew and Andrew and mother Stephanie – in 2001. They have since made it one of the city’s most beloved pubs, with live music and comedy, and its annual hosting of the Headington Beer Festival.
