Oxford prepares to wax lyrical

Punk poet Dr. John Cooper Clarke is on his "I Wanna Be Yours Tour", and is due to make a stop off in Oxford at the end of October.

Often called the "Bard of Salford" and the "Poet Laureate of Punk", the media presenter and socio-cultural observer is one of Britain's most recognisable performance poets.

His recently published memoir "I Wanna Be Yours" is peppered with references such diverse characters as Chuck Berry, Elvis Costello, Bernard Manning, Nico and Joe Strummer. In the last few years, he has collaborated with Plan B and Alex Turner, among other artists.

This new show sees him present his latest spoken material, and combines extracts from his memoir with social commentary, chat, gags and off-the-wall satire. Having toured with acts like The Sex Pistols and The Buzzcocks in the 1970s, Clarke delivers his own distinctive views on modern culture encompassing everything from Baudelaire to pop art.

His TV appearances include "Have I Got News For You", "8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown" and "Would I Lie To You?", He also hosts 6 Music shows and BBC Radio 4's "John Cooper Clarke Live at the BBC".

Tickets range in price, starting at £23.90. Brochure printing can be useful means of promoting and branding an artistic event like this.

Dr. John Cooper Clarke's, "I Wanna Be Yours" show has a starting time of 8:00 pm on Saturday, October 30 at The New Theatre, Oxford.
