Oxford has date with cultural satirist

An Evening with Fran Lebowitz, organised in conjunction with the Oxford's Festival of the Arts, is due to take place at the end of June.

The American satirist is not only a social commentator on American life but also an established author. She hails from New Jersey, where Fran was deemed a disreputable pupil and expelled from secondary school. On relocating in the 1970s to New York, she started writing for Andy Warhol’s pop magazine Interview.

Her latest successful Netflix docu-series, Pretend It's a City was directed by Martin Scorsese and offers a glimpse into life in the Big Apple with Fran herself providing the critical social commentary on the day to day realities of living there.

Once compared to Dorothy Parker by The New York Times, she will share her own distinctive take on things and world events. These include insights into topics such as celebrity culture, gender, gay rights, tourists, the media and even baby strollers.

It represents not only an opportunity to sample Fran's views on contemporary society but also a chance to ask her questions.

Ticket prices start at £28 and are subject to a £3.65 transaction fee. Stationery printers can be a useful resource when preparing for a forthcoming cultural festival or theatrical event.

Fran Lebowitz's show has a starting time of 7.30pm on Monday 27th June at The New Theatre, Oxford.
