Pupils from Drayton Primary School, which is close to the Abingdon area of the city, triumphed in the South West regionals and will now have the chance to showcase their talents before a wider audience.
The school was represented by 22 children, aged between four and 11, who performed a blend of street dance and ballet, depicting a story of a boy tired of existing fairytales who opts to create his own. This routine was chosen by the judges despite stiff competition from the other 19 groups, providing a fitting reward for the two months of rehearsals the children undertook.
Chloe Langridge, four, told the local press after the performance:
“I enjoyed it because I love dancing and it makes me happy.”
The group’s teacher, Charlotte Tranham, affirmed her pride in her pupils’ efforts to the Oxford Mail, and the children will be guaranteed strong local support when they compete in the national final – with the help of the banner printing from Oxford Print companies.
The Hilliat Fields troupe will now be taking their dancing shoes to the New Theatre in Oxford, which will serve as the venue for the national finals, on 10th June.Get a Free Quote for Print
