Oxford awaits the arrival of Welsh musician

Sweet Baboo (also known as Stephen Black), promoted by Divine Schism, is due to play a gig in Oxford at the end of February.

This North Walian singer-songwriter's career spans more than 20 years, during which time he has released six albums to positive reviews. His musical influences are quite extensive, listing artists as diverse as The Beach Boys and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci.

Stephen sometimes gives acoustic solo guitar performances and sometimes is accompanied by his all-electric band. He is presently completing another LP record, The Wreckage, due for release in 2023, which will be his first in more than five years. Indeed, he has not performed as Sweet Baboo since 2018 at End of The Road Festival.

In the interim, Stephen has kept himself busy. This includes the release in January 2022 of a second album under the nom de plume of Group Listening (with pianist Paul Jones), one titled Clarinet & Piano: Selected Works Vol. 2.

Sweet Baboo's long-awaited return will be welcomed by his fans, whose sound has been described by Uncut Magazine as 'a Beautifully judged (electronic) psych-pop record that hums with warmth'.

Tickets cost £13.20 inclusive of a booking fee. It is worth giving consideration to brochure printing when organising a forthcoming concert or musical event.

Sweet Baboo's gig has a starting time of 7.30pm on Saturday 25th February at Florence Park Community Centre, Oxford.
