New tourism trails for Oxfordshire

A series of new ‘tourism trails’ are being introduced in Oxfordshire in order to boost visitor numbers to the region.

It was recently announced that several new trails that can be followed by tourists are being introduced into the South Oxfordshire area, in a bid to attract more tourists and visitors. The new tourism trails have been created as part of the Ox Trails project and each one is designed to appeal to visitors who are interested in certain themes.

There are five Ox Trails in total, covering a wide range of subjects. The subjects for the trails are: food, television, literature, history and the great outdoors, meaning that that the trails cater for a wide range of tastes. A tour around famous locations used in TV and film such as Sherlock Holmes: a Game of Shadows and Midsomer Murders is an example of what kind of things visitors can expect.

Tourism is worth a significant amount to South Oxfordshire council and the Vale of the White Horse District Council, with revenues of around £428m being generated each year. As tourism is such a key part of the local economy, the councils are backing the Ox Trails with a variety of promotional material, including a mobile phone app, a website and a brochure. Printers in Oxford often get involved with producing promotional Brochures for local attractions and the district councils hope that this promotional material will be effective in driving visitors to the South Oxfordshire region.
