Macbeth to reign at Oxford Castle

Shakespeare’s Scottish play, Macbeth will be performed at the Oxford Castle and Prison this summer.

The Tomahawk Theatre group will return to the city to complete a decade of performances with a trio of plays including Macbeth. The Bard’s bloody tale witchery and lust for power is part of The Oxford Shakespeare Festival for 2019, with each show kicking off at 7:30pm. Production companies can advertise forthcoming attractions with assistance from poster printing services.

In the historic setting of Oxford Castle and Prison, the play will feature two hours of action-packed entertainment, complete with an interval. Vibrant battle scenes will be accompanied by spirited song and dance in a faithful take on Shakespeare’s classic.

If poor weather renders an outdoor performance unsuitable, the play will be moved to Oxford’s New Baptist Church, which is located at Bonn Square. Just five minutes on foot from the Castle, the venue has been used for Shakespeare plays in the past. Theatre company members will escort the audience to resume the play from the Castle cafe and box office.

Performances of Shakespeare’s Macbeth will take place from July 1 to July 27 with tickets available at £16.50 for adults and £14.00 for concessions respectively. For theatre-goers wishing to make the event special, the purchase of a picnic pack is made available when booking tickets.
