The recent finale for the Oxford Fashion Week saw everything from exotic creatures to dinosaur skeletons and birds of paradise delight the audience.
The glamorous six days of the event ended with a runway show entitled Birds of Paradise, which took place at the Museum of Natural History in Oxford University, and saw models hit the catwalk in a range of colourful outfits.
This show was inspired by exotic birds from around the world, and the designers sought to recreate their plumage using multi-coloured headgear and dresses, as well as false eyelashes fitted with feathers.
Adding to the impact of the fashionable creations on show was a series of illuminated displays, including the aforementioned skeletons, for viewers to enjoy inbetween the catwalk parades.
This marked the conclusion of the week of Autumn/Winter fashions, the first such event to be held in Oxford, and overall the week proved such a hit that a follow-up is being planned for next spring or summer.
The theme behind the finale show was dreamed up by Hannah Zainuddin, a biology student at the University and, like the other shows during the week, it was no doubt assisted by poster printing in Oxford.
Designers based across the world participated in the fashion week, with the likes of Julia Chew – who makes handcrafted dresses from feathers – arriving in Oxford from her home in Florida mere hours ahead of the event beginning.
