Sue Mynall, 60, has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for 15 years, but says that the work by the hospital’s clinical trials unit enabled her to regain the mobility needed to pursue her interests in cycling and art.
Prior to her treatment Mynall, who lives in Willow Way, had feared that the pain in her joints would require her to abandon these hobbies. However, the Humira injections she was given by staff at the unit saw her symptoms disappear. She told a reporter from the Oxford Mail:
“Once it started working I have been able to cycle, swim and everything. It has really helped.
“I feel the best I have for years. Before it was good but this is how I used to feel before everything started.”
The Hospital Heroes awards give residents of Oxford the opportunity to nominate employees – from frontline staff to volunteers – who have provided extra-special services. Community awards like this often make use of printing services in Oxford and other areas to get residents involved and interested.
This year’s closing date for nominations is 5th September. Those who win in either the team or individual categories will receive their awards at a ceremony in December.
